Apple Stores will begin carrying Apple Watch bands in limited quantities later this week, says a message sent to retail stores. The majority of the bands will be the fluoroelastomer Sport bands. At least one store has stock already available.
At least one Apple Store in the United States appears to be already stocking the bands as shown in the photo above by MacRumors reader Alireza. MacRumors says the photo was allegedly taken at an Apple Store in Miami, and it appears to show the Sport Band as available.
According to the notice, this strap inventory will primarily be for customers who would like to swap the band that comes pre-bundled with their Apple Watch after their purchase. Secondary to this, these early band shipments for stores will be available as replacements for worn-out bands from the various store Apple Watch try-on stations…
Remaining inventory will be available for customers who want to purchase an additional band for their Apple Watch. The memo says Apple will soon begin advertising the availability of the Sport bands in its stores.
It was reported earlier this week that CEO Tim Cook told employees that the Apple Watch would be carried in-store beginning in June. MagSafe charging adapters have been available in-store for the past few weeks. Nothing has been announced about in-store plans for third-party accessories.
