Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2015 (WWDC 2015) is a little over four weeks away, and the company is sending out scholarship notifications to winning applicants.
Scholarship recipients will be allowed to attend the conference without the need to pay out the usual $1,599 price of admission. Travel, lodging, and other expenses are the responsibility of the student.
The scholarship program is awarding 350 “golden tickets” to student developers and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) organizations for young women and other ethnic groups, up from 200 tickets in previous years.
Applicants for the WWDC 2015 scholarships were required build and submit a Mac or iOS app, written in Objective-C and Swift, or written entirely in Swift. Candidates also needed to include proof of enrollment from their school, or proof of membership from a STEM organization.
Apple is expected to debut the latest versions of iOS and OS X at WWDC 2015, and is rumored to also be introducing a new Apple TV with much improved specs and capabilities. The conference begins June 8th.
