While there are a number of useful apps available on the Apple Watch, a number of female users may find developer Stéphane Queraud’s app The Pill particularly useful. It reminds you to take your birth control pill.
“The Pill will remind you to take your birth control pill every day at a time you choose, with a local notification alert (similar to an SMS). The application does not need to be running in order to receive the alert. Works also in plane mode.”
The app’s developer, Stéphane Queraud, says while the pill is the most popular contraceptive method available, it needs to be taken consistently and correctly to be effective. That’s where the Pill comes in.
The app automatically calculates the 7 days stop period, and the 21 days when you are actually taking the pill. If you are using a 28 day pack then alerts will be sent to you every day. Alerts will not be sent during the 7 day stop period, they only occur during the 21 days when you are actually taking your pill.
Users can view when to take the pill, and even compare their physical pill package with the virtual one in the app to indicate whether they have missed a pill.
