Discover Announces Apple Pay Support to Begin in Fall

Credit card company Discover announced on Monday that it has an agreement in place with Apple that will finally allow card members to make use of Apple Pay. Support is expected to kickoff in the fall.

“As the mobile payments landscape matures, Discover remains committed to giving cardmembers secure options for using their cards and mobile devices,” said Diane Offereins, Discover’s president of payment services. “Discover’s focus on simplicity and value for our cardmembers aligns well with the way Apple Pay makes purchases easy and convenient.”

Card holders will be able to add their Discover card to Apple Pay, and begin paying in stores with their iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch. Apple Pay can also be used with iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 devices when paying for goods and services within apps.

As part of the agreement, Discover Network will enable eligible financial institutions, including Discover Debit issuers, to let their card holders use Apple Pay.

We’ll keep you posted when more details about the deal are released.
