Apple on Tuesday began sending out emails to registered developers, offering them the chance for an expedited delivery of a 42mm Apple Watch Sport, to be shipped no later than April 28.
I myself received the email this afternoon during lunch, as seen above. The Apple Watch is a silver aluminum Sport model, with a blue sport band.
Developers will be selected at random for the offer, and must register between today and April 23, at 10AM Pacific time. Those who are lucky enough to be selected to receive one will be notified later that day.
Apple says they’re making the offer so developers can test apps on a real Apple Watch:
“We want to help give Apple developers the opportunity to test their WatchKit apps on Apple Watch as soon as it is available. You have the chance to purchase one (1) Apple Watch Sport with 42mm Silver Aluminum Case and Blue Sport Band that’s guaranteed to ship by April 28, 2015.”
While deliveries of Apple Watch pre-orders are scheduled to begin arriving on Friday, April 24, currently pre-orders indicate a June shipping date for delivery.
Developers selected to purchase an Apple Watch will see their Watch shipped on April 28, four days after the initial arrival of pre-orders.
