If you’re a MacBook user, and if you’ve had your MacBook for longer than a year or two, you might have already had to replace the power supply due to the power cord breaking where it connects to the power supply. (I’ve already replaced my power supply once in two years because of this.)
Our friends at Python sent us what they say is the solution to the problem of breaking power supply cords, the Python Laptop Charger Protector.
The Python is made of silicone rubber, and is designed to wrap around your Macbook’s power cord and power supply, giving extra support where the power cord connects to the power supply. While the protector is designed to work with MacBook chargers, it will also work with a number of other laptop power supplies.
The protective accessory is easy to install. As seen in the photo below, you simply feed your power connector thru the Python, bringing it snug against the power supply, and then stretch the large band around the power supply, making a sung fit.
While we didn’t have time to do a full review of the Python, (after all, it would take months of constant use to find out if it fully prevents power cord fraying), we did find that the Python reinforced the connection point of the power cord to the supply, and it certainly looks as if it will make it more resistant to fraying and breaking.
Another nice feature of the Python is that it is stretchable, so you can also tuck your power cord up under it to tame your cord while it’s in your backpack or briefcase. (Hopefully you can do it up a little nicer than the fellow in the photo. – Ed.)
The Python is available for $10.99, and is available in black or white. For under 11 bucks, the Python is certainly worth a look if you’re tired of buying new MacBook power supplies due to cord fraying and breakage.
