A TechCrunch report says online retailer Amazon is developing an app for the Apple Watch, which will allow customers to search for products, and purchase them, using the retailer’s famed 1-Click ordering system.
Of course, it’s not surprising that Amazon will address the forthcoming mobile platform […] it already has an Android Wear (i.e., smartwatch) version of its shopping app in the wild, so it makes sense that it would build the Apple Watch counterpart, too.
TechCrunch indicates the Apple Watch version of the Amazon app will operate just like the app the online retailer developed for Android Wear devices. The Android Wear app allows users to search for items via voice, save products to their Wishlist, and checkout via Amazon’s 1-Click system.
TechCrunch says Amazon wouldn’t confirm an Apple Watch app is in the works, as a company spokesperson told them:
“Amazon is constantly innovating on behalf of our customers. We are committed to being anywhere customers want to shop. That includes watches. We have an Amazon shopping app for Android Wear and will look to expand to other devices.”
Part of me wants to see this come true for the Apple Watch, while another part of me is screaming, “UGH! Just what I need, an easier way to spend money on Amazon!”
