Apple CEO Tim Cook commemorated late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’ 60th birthday via Twitter this morning. Jobs passed away in October 2011, following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.
Cook shared a quote from Jobs’ 2005 Stanford University commencement address in which he told the assembled, “the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
Jobs co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne in 1976, going on to introduce the Apple II home computer to a welcoming home and educational marketplace.
The company went on to introduce the Macintosh computer in 1984, before Jobs was pushed out in a power struggle in 1985. Jobs went on to found NeXT computer that same year, which was acquired by Apple in 1997, leading to Jobs’ return to the company he loved.
Under Jobs, Apple went on to introduce the iPod, iPhone and iPad. He also made the decision to power the company’s fading Mac lineup with Intel processors, a decision that proved to be a wise one, as Apple’s Mac lineup continue to defy computer sales trends.
Happy birthday, Steve. We hardly knew ye.
