If you’re a smartphone user who fits into the “older” demographic, you may recall the Polaroid Instant Camera. Polaroid’s camera revolutionized photography in the 1960s and ’70s. Now a new iPhone case promises to bring the Polaroid experience to a new generation of users.
The Prynt case attaches to your smartphone, (it’s compatible with the iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5) you take simply take a photo, tap a command, and thirty seconds later, a 2×3-inch paper photo prints out.
The Prynt team went to Kickstarter to fund their idea, and they’ve already smashed their initial goal of $50,000 by raising an incredible $573,926 with 28 days to go!
Prynt CEO Clement Perrot believes users have come to value quantity over quality when it comes to photos. He believes the Prynt case will put an end to that.
“They have lost the deeper meaning that they had in past generations when photographs were precious, physical items that were used to share stories and memories. Prynt hopes to bridge this gap by printing memories off your phone, and bringing back the joy of holding an actual photograph in your hand,” he said.
As well as printing photos, the Prynt case uses augmented reality to turn photos into video clips.
The case is powered by a rechargeable battery, and contains no ink. The ink is embedded in the paper.
