Pinterest has announced a new “App Pins” partnership with Apple that will allow users to install iOS app on their devices without needing to leave the Pinterest app.
Now if you’re on your iPhone or iPad, you’ll see another kind of Pin: app Pins. Let’s say you’re Pinning workout inspiration to your Marathon Training board. If you see a fitness app that helps you reach your goals, you can download it right from Pinterest.
When users come across an app Pin, they can tap “Install” to download the app right to their iOS device without ever leaving the app. (Users will only see app Pins when they’re using the Pinterest app on their iPhone or iPad).
As a part of the partnership, Apple will be rolling out its own App Store board on the social service, where the company will feature apps on a variety of topics.
Pinterest believes it is better positioned than other social networks to help promote apps because of the nature of the service. The company says people come to the service to find new things to do, see, and buy.
The new functionality is included in the Pinterest app, which is available FREE for the iPhone and iPad in the App Store. [DIRECT LINK]
