Microsoft has updated its Office for iOS suite of apps, adding support for Apple’s iCloud to their Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps.
What’s New in Version 1.6
- iCloud support: open, edit, and save your work to iCloud and other online storage services (requires iOS 8).
- Bug Fixes.
All three of the Office apps can now access documents stored in iCloud. Documents can be opened, edited, and then saved to the service by users running iOS 8 on their devices.
The update also includes unspecified “bug fixes” for all three apps.
Today’s update also brings support for third-party cloud storage company Box, in addition to Microsoft’s own OneDrive and Apple’s iCloud.
9to5Mac notes that, in addition to the support for the new storage services, Microsoft will also begin allowing integration of Office Online into apps, allowing users “to open, view, and edit documents stored in those services in any web browser.”
The Office for iOS suite of apps, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint version 1.6 are now available FREE for both the iPhone and iPad from the App Store.
