This MacBook Air Fell 1,000 Feet – And Survived!

The South African pilot of a light plane was flying along at 1,000 feet when the canopy of his plane flew open, dumping his flying license, logbook, and GASP! his MacBook Air into the fields below. Total loss for the MacBook, right? Well…

Left, a Sport Cruiser aircraft of the same type; right, the MacBook Air after the fall – 9to5Mac

9to5Mac:

Admittedly it didn’t emerge entirely unscathed. Pilot and Reddit user Av80r reports that the unibody casing was bent, the glass trackpad shattered and the cooling fans were damaged, but the screen remained intact and the MacBook continues to work …

Av8or’s MacBook and pilot paperwork were found by a farmer, who contacted the pilot via Facebook, where arrangements were made to return the precious MacBook Air and paperwork.

As you can see in the photos, the MacBook Air is a bit worse for the wear, but how would you look if you fell 1,000 feet?
