Kuo: Brace Yourselves for a 30% Decline in iPad Sales in 2015

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says iPad sales should continue their downward trend this year, seeing a drastic year-over-year drop in this quarter.

AppleInsider:

Kuo, of KGI Securities, believes iPad shipments will “struggle to top” 45 million units this year, he said in a new research note on Friday, a copy of which was obtained by AppleInsider. That would result in a 30 percent year over year decline from 2014.

While Kuo says Apple’s expected 12.9-inch iPad Pro is still on track to launch later this year, he doesn’t expect it to “contribute meaningfully to shipments momentum anytime soon.”

Kuo believes iPad shipments will decline 52.7 percent in the first quarter of calendar 2015, falling to just 10.1 million units. He expects another drop in sales in the second quarter, falling to between 7 million and 8 million units.

Kuo predicts 2015 iPad shipments to experience their steepest decline in the device’s five year history.
