How do you attempt to smuggle 94 iPhones through customs in China? Well, if you’re this guy, you’ll tape all 94 of them to your body, and hope your stiff robotic moves don’t draw the interest of customs officials…
The Huffington Post UK Edition:
The man was apparently identified only by his gait – he had a “weird walking posture, joint stiffness, muscle tension” and — when forced through a metal detector — tons and tons of Apple hardware around his waist.
The photos above are via a Chinese social media site. The man arrived from Hong Kong, apparently attempting to smuggle in the devices in order to make a tidy profit on the Chinese black and gray markets.
To be sure, iPhones are more expensive in China, with an unlocked 16GB iPhone 6 going for around $872 USD, compared with a mere $649 in the United States. As the average Chinese worker earns approximately $4,755 per year, buying an iPhone can take around 18% or more of their annual salary.
I’m not sure how the iPhones strapped to the smuggler’s buttocks and “daddy parts” fared. But, if they don’t bend there, normal users shouldn’t have any problems.
