The free BBC News app for iOS and Android is getting its first major revamp since its 2010 launch. The new app will debut n the UK over the next few days, and will go global soon after.

The new app showcases top stories, most watched stories and live coverage with personally selected and recommended topics based on what you read and what’s trending.
BBC News app users will now be able to follow topics that interest them in the “My News” section in the app. The app also gives access to live coverage from the BBC News channel, as well as offering video features such as news highlights.
In addition to regional, national, and global news reports, the app can use location services on your device to deliver news stories based on your current location.
The BBC reports 50% of its users now get their news via the BBC News mobile apps, up from 25% in 2012.
