Apple’s 2015 “Lucky Bag” Promotion in Japan Features iPads, MacBooks, and More

Apple’s retail store in Japan have kicked off their one-day Fukubukuro, or “Lucky Bag” promotion, which offers customers an assortment of Apple products in a grab bag for one set price.

MacRumors:

Japanese blog Mac Otakara (Google Translate) was present at the Apple Store in Nagoya to discover the exact content of the various bags among customers, with some shoppers receiving big-ticket items like iPads and MacBooks.

This year, the lucky bags go for 36,000 yen ($300 USD) and come in four different configurations, with the value of the contents ranging in value from $640 to $1,280.

Items in each bag include one large “surprise” item, an Apple TV, a 4000 mAh Mophie Powerstation external battery pack, an Incase Icon backpack, an iTunes gift card, and Beats by Dre Powerbeats2 wireless earbuds.

For 2015, the most valuable bag included an 11-inch MacBook Air with a 128GB SSD along with a limited edition Power Support Air Jacket and Twelve South’s PlugBug World power adaptor. A second bag featured a 16GB iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi, while a third showcased a 16GB iPad mini 3 with Wi-Fi. A final bag included a 16GB iPod touch.

The Apple grab bags are sold “as-is” and items cannot be returned unless they are found to be defective.

Shoppers began lining up at Apple’s retail stores in Japan on Thursday for a chance at the lucky bags.
