As seems traditional at this time of year, Apple’s retail stores will be repurposing their Genius Bars for use as additional product space, customer pick-ups, and other purposes as Apple looks to streamline the holiday shopping experience for its customers.
The repurposing for the holidays will only arrive in some stores depending on needs and traffic, with some stores scheduled to use the Genius Bar area to complete express sales and hold products scheduled for pick-up. Other changes, however, will go beyond the holidays as the stores under new retail chief Angela Ahrendts evolve to better deal with increased foot traffic.
While this may mean the Genius Bar itself will be closed until the holiday shopping hubbub passes, fret not, as Geniuses will still be available to help you with your Apple-related issues, staying mobile on the floor, or helping you at tables near the Genius Bar. 9to5Mac reports that some stores will also not be taking Genius Bar appointments during the last few days before December 25th, so be sure to check with you local Apple Store.
While the above changes are strictly holiday season changes, there are rumblings that Apple may have some other changes in mind for the Genius Bar, such as the removal of Genius-specific signage, and those monitors that display quick tips while you’re waiting for your appointment.
