Apple has announced its 2014 Best of iTunes Store awards, which honors the best apps, music, movies, televisions shows, books, and podcasts for the year.
Winners in the iOS Apps section included Elevate-Brain Training as the iPhone App of the Year, while Threes! grabbed the Game of the Year spot on the iPhone. iPad honors went to the excellent Pixelmator as iPad App of the Year, while Monument Valley took the top iPad game honors.
Mac gamers will likely enjoy seeing Tomb Raider ranking as Game of the Year, while Notability took top honors as Mac App of the Year. Runners-up on the Mac were Affinity Designer in Apps, and Transistor in Games.
In music, Best Artist went to Beyoncé, Best Album was 1989 by Taylor Swift, Fancy (feat. Charli XCX) by Iggy Azalea took Best Song honors, while Sam Smith was Best New Artist.
Best Blockbuster Movie was no surprise, with Guardians of the Galaxy blowing away the competition, The LEGO Movie took top spot for Best Family Movie, Richard Linklater was Best Director, and Obvious Child was named Best Discovery.
The TV Shows category saw Fargo – Season 1 take the top TV Show honors, while Key & Peele, Volume 4 was named Best Breakthrough.
