Squirrels Debuts AirParrot 2 – Chromecast Support, Quick Connect, More

Squirrels has released the updated AirParrot 2 mirroring app for OS X and Windows. The popular screen mirroring app now offers the ability to mirror and stream to Chromecast devices, mirroring and streaming of audio only, and discovery by Bluetooth with the Apple TV version 3.

“We’ve had a lot of feedback over the last few years about what to do next with AirParrot,” Squirrels co-founder Andrew Gould said. “AirParrot 2 is a huge upgrade and total redesign, and it introduces some great features like media streaming, multiple destination support and Chromecast receiver support.”

AirParrot 2 can now mirror and stream to Chromecast devices. Squirrels says the app is the first to add mirroring from a Mac or Windows computer to the Chromecast.

Another new addition to the formerly mirroring-only application is the ability to stream video files. Users can now drag-and-drop their favorite movies, TV shows, and other video files to begin streaming. Home theater lovers can even enjoy 5.1 channel sound when supported.

AirParrot 2 can also send audio files or audio from apps to available receivers. Audio can even be played in sync on multiple receivers.

AirParrot 2, while boasting a entirely new UI, still keeps its easy to use look and feel that users are accustomed to.

“We took the AirParrot everyone knows and loves and supercharged it.” Gould said. “We’ve added a ton of new features and completely redesigned the application. We think users are going to love everything AirParrot 2 has to offer.”

AirParrot 2 is a paid upgrade from AirParrot, and can be purchased at a discount this week. New users can visit the Squirrels website and buy AirParrot 2 for $14.99 USD.
