Hot on the heels of yesterday’s news that Christian Bale had “bailed” on the title role of Steve Jobs in Sony’s upcoming biopic, comes news that Michael “Magneto” Fassbender is in talks to take on the role.
Variety reports that the actor is in early talks with director Danny Boyle and Sony about the starring role in the film. Michael Fassbender has starred in such well known movies as Inglorious Basterds, 12 Years a Slave, and is possibly best known for his role as Magneto in X-Men: First Class, and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Production on the film, based on Walter Isaacson’s 2011 biography “Steve Jobs,” was set to begin in the next couple of months. It’s unknown how Bale’s withdrawal from the role will affect the production schedule.
Comedic actor Seth Rogen is reportedly in talks with the studio to co-star in the Jobs biopic, appearing as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
The movie – divided into three scenes, each taking place backstage before one of Apple’s famous product launches – was written by Aaron Sorkin, and will be directed by Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle.
