IDC has finalized their numbers PC shipment numbers, and confirms the Mac hit its highest share of the US market ever, with 13%. Apple took third place, behind HP at 28% and Dell with 24%.
Apple reported year-on-year growth of more than 20% in its Q4 earnings report, with Mac sales of 5.52M. In a subsequent interview with the WSJ, Tim Cook asked:
“Would you rather own the Mac business or any of the Windows OEMs?”
The news adds to the mixture of bittersweet Apple market share usage reports of late. A recent report showed Apple’s share of the worldwide tablet market fell 12.8% in quarterly shipments compared to the previous year, while a Chitika report from yesterday showed the iPad continuing to dominate North American tablet web traffic, with almost 80% of total traffic.
