Apple is now the top mobile brand in China, scoring highest in both loyalty and brand awareness. CNET reports Apple took the spot from Samsung, which had ranked #1 in the China Brand Power Index since 2012.
9to5Mac reports the rankings are based on a large-scale consumer survey conducted annually by the China Brand Research Center.
This year’s rankings were calculated by the China Brand Research Center, who surveyed 13,500 Chinese across 30 cities, aged 15 to 60, from August 2013 to January 2014.
The report found Samsung had allowed consumer needs to suffer, instead concentrating on growing market share.
The Chinese market has become very important to Apple over the past few years. During a recent visit to the country, Apple CEO Tim Cook noted that the company plans to open 25 new Apple Stores in the region within the next two years.
