Bloomberg reports that Apple is planning to offer its next-generation 9.7-inch “iPad Air 2” in gold. The new color option will be available alongside the usual silver and space grey options. The report quotes the ever popular source of: “people familiar with the plans.”
Adding the gold option to the lineup would bump the iPad up to the same color options as Apple’s iPhone lineup.
Bloomberg’s “people” note the new color choice may be an effort by Apple to boost the recent “speed bump” of sagging iPad sales.
The report jibes with a September prediction from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who said he believes Apple would offer an “iPad Air 2” with a gold color option, in addition to a new anti-reflective display, and a Touch ID enabled Home button. (Of course, he also predicted the new iPad would be introduced at Apple’s September 9 event, so… – Ed.)
