During Apple’s iPad/iMac event on Thursday, they also had some news for developers in the form of a new SDK for their upcoming Apple Watch. WatchKit will launch in November.
WatchKit will supply the tools developers need to build apps for the upcoming Apple Watch, going beyond simple watchfaces. Apple has been working with a few select developers, such as BMW and American Express.
Apple follows the naming convention of previous SDKs, such as HealthKit and HomeKit, by naming the Apple Watch SDK “WatchKit.”
Apple will release the SDK to developers in November, likely insuring there will be a good selection of third-party apps available for the Apple Watch when it ships in early 2015.
