The Star Tribune reports that Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic will be on hand at Apple’s media event today to help demonstrate how Apple’s new iOS 8 Health app can benefit medical professionals.
MacRumors notes that Mayo staff will be there to show how data from the Health app can flow into the management system of a major healthcare provider.
Apple and the Mayo Clinic have reportedly been working together for two years now, and the medical group’s CEO, Dr. John H. Noseworthy, has been quoted as saying Apple’s Health app and their HealthKit API have the potential to “revolutionize how the health industry interacts with people.”
Apple has reportedly been positioning the Health app and the HealthKit programming tools as an all-in-one solution for medical professionals who are looking to store patient data for easy access and improved diagnostics. The company has reportedly been in discussions with health professionals at Mount Sinai, Cleveland Clinic, John Hopkins, and Allscripts to roll out HealthKit at their facilities.
Apple is expected to unveil a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 today, alongside their much-anticipated “iWatch” wearable device.
