Don’t expect the Apple Reversible Lightning Cable or a new USB power adapter to ship alongside the iPhone 6, says KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo says “cost concerns” and “limited improvements to overall user experience” will prevent Apple from releasing the accessories.
Recent photo leaks have shown a revamped Lightning cable with a reversible USB connector, as well as a redesigned power adapter. The USB adapter was expected to be able to power and charge all iPhone, iPad, and iPhone touch devices. Its 2A of current would be double that of the current iPhone power adapter.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6 on September 9. The new handsets are expected to include a fast A8 processor, a thinner more rounded body, and improved cameras on both models.
Re/Code reported last week that Apple will also be introducing the much anticipated “iWatch” wearable device at the September 9th event.
