iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Do Well in AnandTech Benchmarks

As usual, we saw a nice bump in specs with Apple’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets, and the fine folks over at AnandTech are putting the new handsets through their paces. The preliminary results show that Apple’s new flagship devices are ranking pretty well when compared to other smartphones on the market.

TUAW:

In nearly all the tests — check out the full rundown to get the whole picture — the iPhone 6 twins hold the top two smartphone scores, with the exception of a physics benchmark where they only narrowly beat out the iPhone 5s and lag behind the rest of the competition. It’s unclear why that particular test came out the way it did, while the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus dominate so handily in the rest, but the testing parameters have been questioned by commenters.

The benchmarks are very competitive, especially considering some of the devices it’s being compared to boast quad, or even octa-core processors, while the iPhone’s A8 processor has a “measly” dual-processor core. As far as overall performance and battery life, the new devices fare quite well against competitors.
