If you’re the owner of a new iPhone 6, you now breathe a little easier knowing that your new precious won’t bend as easily as its larger sibling, the iPhone 6 Plus. The video below demonstrates.
Following reports of iPhone 6 Plus users noticing their new device was noticeably bent when they removed it from their back, or even front, pockets, Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy, created a video demonstrating just how easily the iPhone 6 Plus could bend. Now he has created a second video testing the iPhone 6 and various Android devices.
The smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 appears to fare better when put under the same type of pressure as it’s larger 5.5-inch “Plus” sibling. Aside from a small dent, the iPhone 6 remains unscathed.
Other phones Hilsenteger attempts to bend in the video include the HTC One M8. (The screen pops out a little, and a nasty noise is heard from inside the device, but it comes away still operational), The New Moto X (No bending at all, no noises), and the Nokia (we hear a crack right away, but no damage). He also takes a shot at the iPhone 5s with no apparent damage.
It’s highly unlikely that your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus will ever be subjected to the same force that Hilsenteger uses in the videos. However, those users hoping to prevent any type of bending for any mobile device would do well to purchase some sort of rigid case to put around the device.
