With today’s official debut of iOS 8, we should see a nice crop of alternative virtual keyboards begin to appear in the iOS App Store. Both Flesky and SwiftKey, makers of popular Android gesture-based keyboards, will make their alternative iOS 8 keyboards available today.
Flesky
Flesky’s keyboard has been recognized as the fastest keyboard in the world, and relies on an advanced autocorrect feature to interpret and correct input. It also has extensive keyboard gestures support, allowing users to easily add punctuation, delete text, and more by simply swiping a finger on the keyboard. Flesky also learns from a user’s typing habits to improve its performance.
Flesky includes emoji support, a resizable keyboard, and support for 40 languages, and will be available for $0.99 later today in the App Store.
SwiftKey
SwiftKey gave iOS users a taste of their gesture-based keyboard earlier this year when they offered the SwiftKey Note app in the iOS App Store. The company is now set to offer the SwiftKey keyboard today, alongside the launch of iOS 8.
As well as giving users the ability to input text by dragging their finger from key to key, the SwiftKey keyboard also offers predictive suggestions, and also integrates with SwiftKey Cloud to backup a user’s preferences and learned language data and allow it to be synced across devices.
SwiftKey will be available free of charge, later today in the iOS App Store.
Both of these keyboards will be available later today, likely immediately following the official public release of iOS 8. We’ll supply the links to the new keyboards right here, just as soon as they’re both available.
