Apple’s ‘iWatch” has reportedly reached the “engineering verification test” (EVT) stage of development, and is likely to beginning shipping in 2015, says a new report from the not always reliable Digitimes.
While components for the device are said to be in production, a source close to the matter stated that the device must also head to production verification testing (PVT) before entering mass production.
Digitimes also claims that it is “unlikely” that Apple will debut the wearable device at its upcoming September 9 media event. This conflict with reports form Bloomberg and Re/Code, who have stated the device would debut alongside the iPhone 6.
A number of sources have suggested an early 2015 launch for the iWatch. We have seen few parts leaks related to the device, however rumors suggest the iWatch will include an array of health and fitness tracking sensors, and will be tightly integrated with the iPhone via iOS 8.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6 on September 9. The new handsets are expected to include a fast A8 processor, a thinner more rounded body, and improved cameras on both models.
Re/Code reported last week that Apple will also be introducing the much anticipated “iWatch” wearable device at the September 9th event.
