The company also noted that only nine customers had complained about bent iPhones, suggesting the issue may not be as widespread as has been indicated by the media. Apple also said both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus met or exceeded testing for strength and durability. They went on to say that bending of the iPhone 6 Plus during normal usage is “extremely rare.”

Reports of the iPhone 6 Plus’s structural weakness first began to surface on Monday, with several users sharing images of devices they said had bent while in their pockets. The issue reached another level when videos appeared on YouTube of an iPhone 6 Plus being bent out of shape with pressure from a user’s hands.
While it’s difficult to discern just how many cases of bent iPhone 6 Plus devices have actually taken place, Apple has been advising support staff to replace affected iPhones under the standard warranty following a visual inspection.
