There’s good news for Mac users who are hoping to develop software for the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Headset platform. The Facebook-owned Oculus has released an update to their software SDK, and it adds support for OS X.
Road to VR, via 9to5Mac:
Notably, the Oculus SDK is now available for Mac OSX, along with a version of the Oculus Runtime and Unity Tuscany Demo for Mac. There’s no word on when Linux support will be ready.
No Mac display drivers are currently available, which will force users to use Extended Display Mode on the Mac.
To make full use of the SDK, you’ll need the Oculus Hardware Development Kit, a $350 online pre-order item.
