Review: Rokit Boost Swage Sport Bluetooth Headphones

Let’s face it, I am out of shape. I try to walk to get in shape, but communing with nature while I walk is just not my bag. I need more of a diversion. I like to listen to music and podcasts while I walk. But the standard iPhone earbuds fall out of my ears, while actual headphones prove to be too heavy, and lead to sweaty ears. What to do, what to do… Enter the Rokit Boost Swage Sport Bluetooth Headphones.

Overview

TheĀ Rokit Boost Swage Sport Bluetooth Headphones are light and easy to wear headphones that connect via Bluetooth to your iPhone, iPod touch, or any other Bluetooth capable mobile device. Light and easy to wear, the Swage Sport headphones give excellent reproduction of music and spoken content, and most importantly, don’t cause my ears to sweat.

I tried the Swage Sport headphones just as I was about to embark on another effort to lose a few pounds. I loaded my iPhone with some up-tempo music, charged the Swage Sports with the supplied USB cable, synced the headset with my iPhone in a matter of just a few seconds, placed them upon my ears, and set out into the humid summer Tennessee evening.

The Swage Sport headset is so light you will forget you have them on. They are light, and while staying snug enough to stay on your ears during your activities, they aren’t so snug that they’ll bug you like full-strength over-the-ear headphones.

I wear glasses, and as the flexible headphones wrap around the back of your head and rest upon your ears, they did screw with the earpieces of my eyeglasses a bit. I was however able to adjust them so they were comfortable and didn’t interfere with my glasses. Your mileage may vary.

The music reproduction from the headphones is excellent, and the sound comes through clean and clear. While they are not noise reduction headphones, (and they don’t claim to be), they do a good job of allowing you to hear the music, while muting the world around you, although you can still hear a honk of warning or admiration from a passing motorist. I’d say they could do a little better job of blocking outside sounds, but they do OK.

I also listened to my favorite podcasts while walking with the headphones on, and enjoyed being able to hear the conversations I partook of without needing to turn the volume WAY up.

I also found that the Swage headphones did not cause my ears to sweat like many headphones have. (Perhaps I should consult with a doctor about that?)

I did receive a few phone calls while I was out walking, and as the Swage headphones also can handle phone calls, I used the headset to conduct the calls. While I was asked to speak up a few times while using the headset, that could be because I was out of breath, (yes, I am that badly out of shape), or because I live in the country, and have a lack of cell coverage.

The headphone controls, including music and phone controls are all on the right ear speaker. After you use them a few times, you should be able to get used to the location of the controls.

Verdict

All-in-all, while the Swage Sport Bluetooth Headphones aren’t the top of the line sport headphones you may have tried in the past, they are also not priced like the top-of-the-line models. For $49.99, the Swage headphones give you a nice mix of usability, listenability, and affordability. I was also pleased with the length of use for the rechargeable headphones, as one charge netted almost two weeks of use before needing to be charged again. (My walks range from 45 minutes to an hour.)

If you’re looking for a light-weight pair of headphones that allow you to listen to entertainment content while working out, you’d be well-advised to check out the Rokit Boost Swage Sport Bluetooth Headphones.
