Apple Building Structure for September 9th Event

Apple has sent out invitations for a special event on September 9. Apple’s next-generation iPhone, and possibly their much-anticipated wearable device, the “iWatch,” are expected to debut at the event. The event is scheduled to be held at Flint Center for the Performing Arts at De Anza College in Cupertino, and Apple is reportedly building their own structure to host the event.

MacRumors:

For the occasion, it appears that Apple has been building a massive structure on the campus, which has been kept under tight wraps with a white barricade. A MacRumors reader has sent in images of a mysterious structure at the Flint Center, which appears to span three stories and is protected by “scads” of security people. Administrators had previously declined to comment on what the structure is for, stating only “We are not at liberty to discuss that due to client wishes.”

The location was the host of the introduction of the original Mac 30 years ago, and Apple hasn’t held an event at the Flint Center in quite a few years. The center has a much higher seating capacity than other venue Apple has used for product introductions in the past, so this suggests September 9th’s event could be the scene of some major product debuts.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6 at the event. The new handsets are expected to include a fast A8 processor, a thinner more rounded body, and improved cameras on both models.

Also, Re/Code reported yesterday that Apple will also be introducing the much anticipated “iWatch” wearable device at the September 9th event.

While Apple hasn’t announced any plans to broadcast the event on the web or via Apple TV, rest assured MacTrast will be covering the event for you on September 9th.
