A new report cites a source with knowledge of an internal Apple Retail Store meeting in saying that Apple may be planning to launch the iPhone 6 on Tuesday, October 14. The source also added that the whole month of October would be very busy for stores and the company as a whole.
The source notes that a senior Store Leader mentioned October 14th as being an “immense” day for Apple, adding that the whole month of October would be very busy for stores and the company itself. Apple is also said to planning a media event for Tuesday, September 16, coming a month ahead of the device’s launch.
Both the September and October dates cited fall on a Tuesday, a day of the week Apple traditionally reserves for product announcements. Most Apple product rollouts have been on a Friday. However, the source claims that Apple is pushing the release date to a Tuesday to allow for high customer demand, and a more than adequate supply due to a huge production effort.
This rumor just doesn’t ring true, if for no other reason as the Tuesday rollout to stores, as Apple traditionally does big product releases on a Friday, and the month span between the introduction and availability date sounds wrong. (Besides, everyone knows that October is when the iWatch will be released. Where’s the sarcasm tag on this thing? -Ed.)
