While Siri is a quite capable personal assistant, it appears she also has a more business minded sibling. SRI International, the company that originally invented the virtual personal assistant found on Apple’s iOS devices, has introduced Kasisto, a business version of Apple’s virtual assistant.
Siri, also an SRI spinoff, first popularized the idea of conversation with a mobile virtual personal assistant. Kasisto takes mobile conversation to the next level, enabling consumers to perform complex tasks, which often require deep domain knowledge and human interaction, on a mobile device. The Kasisto conversational artificial intelligence platform allows enterprises to rapidly and cost-effectively integrate branded conversational virtual personal assistants into their mobile applications.
Companies will be able to integrate Kasisto into their apps, allowing them to harness the power of Siri-like interactions for use in specialized tasks within the apps. Businesses can “train” Kasisto to be an expert in specialized areas for use in the apps.
SRI says the Kasisto conversational platform will allow enterprises to add intelligent virtual personal assistant capabilities to their mobile applications within days or weeks instead of months—and at a fraction of the cost of solutions currently on the market.
The software platform is context-aware and provides text, touch, and speech modalities, and natural language understanding and reasoning. A software development kit (SDK) is also available for the platform, to allow for easy customization and integration into existing mobile applications.
