Misfit and Pebble have announced a new wearables alliance, coming together in a long-term partnership that begins with the launch of an official Misfit tracking app on the pebble smartwatch. The new Misfit app can be downloaded from the Pebble appstore for free.
While Misfit is best known for its Shine activity monitor device which connects to the iPhone, AppleInsider notes that the new Pebble app doesn’t require a hardware accessory to enable activity tracking.
The Pebble Misfit app allows users to track their steps and activity at a glance, with the app also displaying time and activity “points” for the current day.
“We’re delighted to provide our fitness tracking technology to Pebble; we want to see this capability offered to as many users as possible,” said Sonny Vu, founder and CEO of Misfit.
The new Pebble Misfit app will also integrate with the official Misfit iOS app, allowing users to set goals, track their progress, and compete with friends.
The companies say that this is the first milestone in an ongoing partnership and collaboration between Pebble and Misfit that “aims to provide intuitive health and fitness tracking for all.”
