Developer Steven Troughton-Smith on Wednesday figured out a way to show how iOS 8’s hidden split-screen multitasking works on the iPad. He was also kind enough to create a video showing off his findings.
Troughton-Smith, who has been digging through Apple’s iOS 8 code since the software was released to developers earlier in June, uncovered the split-screen option on Monday.
The video was created using the iOS Simulator on the Mac, so you’ll see a mouse pointer, and some awkward gestures on screen. The video shows how the two windows sizes can be manipulated into the “1/4 size, 1/2 size, or 3/4 size” configurations Troughton-Smith uncovered two days ago.
While the split-screen multitasking capabilities apparently weren’t ready for iOS 8’s debut at WWDC last week, it’s likely the feature will make an appearance in a future update.
