Microsoft’s Office for iPad suite is still being downloaded in strong numbers, as the company reports that the apps included in the suite of productivity apps has tallied over 27 million downloads as of Monday.
In an announcement at the TechEd Conference on Monday, Microsoft’s General Manager for Office Julia White said its iPad suite, which includes native Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps, has hit the 27 million download mark 46 days after its debut in March, reports Business Insider
Early April saw Microsoft announcing that the apps had ben downloaded 12 million times in one week.
The “freemium” suite of apps had long been lusted after by iPad users, and the apps jumped to the top of the iOS App Store charts on day one and have continued to rank high on the download charts. At this point in time, Word ranks number four on the download charts, while Excel and Powerpoint have slid to the 22nd and 26th spots, respectively.
While the apps themselves are free for users to download, the apps do require an Office 365 subscription ($99 per year) to make use of the app’s editing capabilities.
Microsoft Word for iPad, Excel for iPad, and Powerpoint for iPad are all available in the App Store.
