LG to Debut Heart Rate Earphones and Lifeband Touch Activity Tracker Later This Month

LG will release their fitness-oriented Heart Rate Earphones and their Lifeband Touch Activity Tracker fitness band later this month. The earphones offer real-time heart rate monitoring, while the fitness band will measure a range of fitness-related statistics, including distance covered, calories burned, steps taken, and more.

MacRumors:

First introduced during January’s CES, LG’s fitness-oriented Heart Rate Earphones are designed to offer real-time heart monitoring. The earphones, which use sensors to measure blood flow through the inner ear, connect to a small medallion that is strapped to the arm or attached to a waistband, tracking metabolic rate and maximum oxygen consumption, while allowing users to listen to music.

A medallion that connects to the earphones will work as a data processing hub, and via Bluetooth will send biometric information directly to the LG Fitness app, or to third-party apps running on an iPhone.

The earphones reportedly offer hi-fidelity sound, and also include a built-in microphone.

The LG earphones will work alongside the company’s other offering, the Lifeband Touch Activity Tracker, a full-featured fitness band that will measure a full range of fitness-related information, such as distance covered, calories burned, steps taken, and more.

Both the Heart Rate Earphones and the Lifeband Touch can be preordered today from Best Buy. The official launch is May 18th. The earphones will go for $180, while the Lifeband Touch will retail for $150.
