Apple gave members of the press a tour of their soon to open retail store in Istanbul, Turkey before its grand opening on Saturday, April 5th. Apple’s manager of retail stores, Steve Cano, lead the tour and confirmed that Apple CEO Tim Cook will not be attending the opening of the store.
Apple Toolbox, (via MacRumors), notes that Turkish President Abdullah Gül will also postpone his visit until after the retail store is opened.
Cano noted that the 20,000 square foot store, which features a cubic design with a glass ceiling and glass sides, uses more glass than any previous Apple Store. The structure uses special glass materials that will take full advantage of the sunlight available in the open area of the upscale Zorlu Center where it is located.
The Apple Retail Store at the Zorlu Center will open this Saturday, April 5th at 10:00AM. Store employees will be giving away Apple t-shirts to the first 4,500 customers who enter the door.
