Lensbaby, creators of a popular lineup of selective/creative focus lenses for DSLR cameras is going the Kickstarter route in an attempt to bring their special type of lenses to the iPhone’s camera.
From the Lensbaby Kickstarter site:
We at Lensbaby have been helping DSLR-owning photographers see and document their worlds in unique and creative ways for the past 10 years. Professional photographer Craig Strong, our Co-founder & Chief Creative Officer, featured in our video above, has been leading the charge. These days, we know more and more people (including us!) are using their mobile phones to capture their everyday life. For years, our customers have been asking “When are you going to make a Lensbaby for mobile phones?” The answer is now, with a little help from you.
Lensbaby’s Sweet Spot Lens for the iPhone 4s, 5, 5s, and 5c will let you focus on one point of a shot, which allows the outer edges of the image to fall off into a blur. (See the shots accompanying this article.)
The lens will be available to Kickstarter backers for $50 – That’s $20 less than retail cost will be once production kicks in.
I’ve seen the photos that the DSLR Lensbaby’s can create, and if you’re an iPhone photo enthusiast, this is definitely a Kickstarter you’ll want to check out.
