Internal Apple Documents Acknowledge Buyers Want Larger, Cheaper iPhones

Internal documents coming out of the Apple v. Samsung trial indicate Apple knows that customers are looking for larger screens, and cheaper phones, something Apple does not currently offer.

MacRumors:

The documents posted by Re/code include an Apple slide deck from April, 2013 for 2014 planning. The document includes graphs showing that Apple’s growth rates are slowing quarter after quarter. The main reason for the decline amongst consumers? Consumers want less expensive and larger screen smartphones.

In another slide, Apple acknowledges that “consumers want what we don’t have.” The slide shows that Apple believes the majority of growth in the smartphone market will be in phones with screens larger than 4″ and in the under $300 market.

While numerous rumors have been floated that Apple will introduce a larger screen sized version of its iPhone this fall, (possibly offering 4.7″ or 5.5″ screen sizes, with the 4.7″ model coming first), the slides are one of the more solid indicators that Apple is working on models that offer larger screens.
