Owners of first-generation Apple TV units are reporting they can no longer connect to iTunes. The issue appears to be affecting users around the world.
MacRumors reported that a lengthy discussion thread in Apple Support Communities shows the problem began on April 17th, and has continued for 1st-generation Apple TV’s.
From forum poster georgevargas:
As of last night I had full access to the iTunes Store. Since this morning I was getting an ITunes Store Not Available message, and after unplugging the AppleTv the iTunes Store access completely disappeared except for movie trailers.
Users have attempted all of the usual remedies, including rebooting and restoring, but all to no avail.
The timing of the outage corresponds with issues iOS 6 users are experiencing with FaceTime not working properly for them. Although no connection has been confirmed.
Apple hasn’t commented on the issue as yet.
