Adobe Debuts Lightroom Mobile for iPad

Adobe has finally released an iPad version of its photo editing software Lightroom. Lightroom mobile for the iPad allows photographers to edit and organize photos from their iPad. The app requires a subscription to both Adobe’s Creative Cloud, and Lightroom 5 to operate.

From the Lightroom mobile page:

Edit and organize images anywhere, anytime on your iPad (coming soon to iPhone). Enhance everything from smartphone photos to raw images from DSLR cameras using powerful and familiar tools. Automatically sync all your mobile edits with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 on your desktop. Easily share all your photos to social media sites. With Adobe Lightroom mobile, your photography is going places.

Lightroom mobile integrates seamlessly with the full version of Lightroom 5 for PCs and Macs. Users can login with their Adobe ID to access the content stored in their desktop version of Lightroom via Smart Previews of the content from the desktop app.

Smart Previews require an Internet connection to sync with Adobe’s servers, however, the files can also be downloaded completely to allow offline editing.

Lightroom mobile offers much of the same functionality as the desktop version of Lightroom, with tools for altering shadows, contrast, and more. Crop and rotate tools are available for manipulating photos, and a three finger tap toggles between before and after displays when editing.

All changes made in Lightroom mobile sync to Lightroom on the desktop, complete with history states.

Photos edited in Lightroom mobile can be saved to your iPad’s camera roll, or shared via social networking sites. Images taken on the iPad can be imported directly into the app. The app also includes slideshow capabilities. Photos can also be shared on Lightroom.Adobe.com.

Lightroom mobile is currently only available on the iPad, although Adobe does have plans for an iPhone version later this year.

Lightroom mobile is available free for the iPad in the App Store. [DIRECT LINK] Using Lightroom mobile  requires an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.
