Following the release of iOS 7.1, Apple has released a list crediting those who helped it spot security issues in previous versions of iOS. The list includes jailbreak pros Evad3rs, who were behind the iOS 6 and iOS 7 jailbreaks.
It’s a tale as old as time (and, perhaps, a song as old as rhyme): Apple releases a new version of iOS, hackers immediately get busy finding security vulnerabilities to exploit, eventually claw together a jailbreak, only for Apple to then find out about the flaws and fix them for the new iOS version.
Apple thanking Evad3rs means the company is closing the security holes that allowed the Evad3rs jailbreaks in the first place. It’s the circle of life. Ironically, without Evad3rs efforts, Apple may never have discovered the holes on their own, and they may have never been fixed.
And a special thanks to CoM for implanting the “Beauty and the Beast” theme song into my head, which will not stop playing in a loop…
