In a New Year’s Eve post on the Bump blog, the developer of that popular app has announced that it will be closing down both Bump, the app that allows devices to share contact information and other files by “bumping” the two together, and photo album aggregator Flock in order to concentrate its efforts on projects of its parent company, Google.
The Bump Blog, via AppleInsider:
“Back in September, we announced that the Bump team was joining Google to continue our work of helping people share and interact with one another using mobile devices,” CEO and cofounder David Lieb wrote in the post. “We are now deeply focused on our new projects within Google, and we’ve decided to discontinue Bump and Flock.”
Bump and Flock will both be available in the iOS App Store, and Google Play until January 31. At that time, the apps will be removed from both marketplaces, and all user data will be deleted. If you are an existing user, you will have 30 days to download stored data, which can be performed via an in-app export request link.
Bump was one of the first standout iOS apps, as it allowed users to share data such as photos and contact information by bumping two devices together.
