We covered the original Yellow Jacket stun gun/iPhone 4 case back in July of 2012. Now at CES, the company is showing off a new and improved version of the self-defense capable case that will protect both you and your iPhone 5/5s.
CNET:
The Yellow Jacket stun-gun case first showed up as an Indiegogo fundraising project back in the middle of 2012. That original model reached the world in early 2013, but a major redesign geared for the iPhone 5 and 5S has now landed at CES.
The new model of the Yellow Jacket is reportedly more streamlined than the original, and it can now be easily removed. Just the thing to avoid having your five-year old zap himself back into Pampers while he’s playing Angry Birds.
The case also includes a safety to prevent it from going off when you reach into your purse for your iPhone, and it’s reportedly more comfortable to hold than the original.
Another cool feature of the Yellow Jacket is that it also acts as a charging case for your iPhone, so if it runs low, the case can power your device’s battery back to its fill charge. (The case reserves at least 10% of its power reserve for use with the stun feature, just in case.)
The new case is due to debut in February for $149, and if you still have an iPhone 4, a case for that is still available for $99.
While the iPhone 5/5s model is due out in February for $149 the old case for the iPhone 4 is still available for $99. If you’re on the fence about the device, consider that it can also be used as a battery backup for your phone. That makes the bulk a little more tolerable. It’s also designed to keep 10 percent of its power in reserve to feed the stun feature in an emergency situation.
