Following our earlier report (and confirmation from Feral) that Feral Games is adding experimental PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller support to many of their existing Mac games, we’ve now come across some even more exciting news! In addition to this experimental PS4 controller support, Feral is also adding full PS4 Controller support to any and all future Mac games that they release as well!
Feral also noted that Rayman Origins already features full PS4 controller support without the need to patch the game. From the statement provided to us from Feral:
Rayman Origins will support the PS4 controller without the need to place the file into the folder. All new releases going forward that support gamepads will support the PS4 pad.
Even better, competing game developer Aspyr Games has confirmed to us that they are also working on official PS4 support for updates to their existing games, as well as for new titles. Once again, this will work without patching or modifying the game in any way:
We are absolutely working on PS4 controller support. Support will be included in our upcoming updates to our currently DS4 shooter titles such as BioShock Infinite, and Borderlands 2. It will just work 🙂
Considering that the DualShock 4 is one of the best and most advanced game controllers seen on this planet to date (at least, in my opinion, and that of a large number of gamers), this should come as excellent news to any dedicated Mac gamer. It looks like 2014 could be a pretty awesome year for gaming on the Mac!
