Android Users Are Converting to the iPhone in Ever Increasing Numbers

Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) has released new data indicating that an increasing number of Android users are making the move to Apple’s iPhone.

AppleInsider:

At the launch of iPhone 5 one year ago, about 16 percent of iPhone 5 buyers said they were upgrading from an Android phone, CIRP depicts in its chart (above). This year, at least 20 percent of new iPhone 5s and 5c buyers said they were moving from Android.

Other numbers in the study indicate that many buyers of new iPhones are already owners of an iPhone. The iOS ecosystem is credited for keeping users in the iOS camp when upgrading devices. Users don’t want to see the money they’ve invested in iOS apps and device accessories to go to waste. 65% of iPhone buyers this year already owned an iPhone, up from 55% at last years iPhone 5 launch.

One number that decreased year-over-year was the number of buyers upgrading from a feature phone and the Blackberry. As those pools of owners continue to shrink the upgrade numbers from those platforms logically show a drop.
